Amongst all the shopping and preparations, don’t forget about babyproofing your holidays with my favourite easy, yet effective greenproofing home tips. Check out the links below for more information on each tip:
6 ways to babyproof your holiday
- Put down a natural material doormat
- How to make a stovetop citrus air freshener recipe
- Read toy labels to avoid PVC plastic
- Choose rechargeable batteries and recycle them when done
- Replace your lights with RoHS compliant holiday lights
- Old artificial Christmas trees may contain lead or PVC
This is perfect as I have to buy new lights tomorrow. I’ll be sure to look for the ones you mentioned.
I’m so glad that this helped! The lights should be labelled clearly and not hard to find! Happy holidays, Patty!
Thanks for the tips! What would the benefit of the doormat be?
Hi Suzanne, Thanks for stopping by. Our shoes bring in toxins like lead, pesticides, chemicals from winter salts, renovations etc. A doormat provides a place to either a) wipe your shoes before walking in the house and thus bringing in these toxins across your floors where small children play or b) a defined place to leave shoes.
